Hello! I'm an indie game dev and I will be posting my game here soon! I will be creating an update log down here for anyone interested in following my gamedev process!
The Game
In my free time, I've been working on an idea I've had for a while. This is the first part of a story centered around a motorcycle club set in the 1950s.
The prologue follows a detective who will solve a series of cases that ultimately lead to his death. I don't want to spoil too much, but the story is mostly set up already.
The game is currently in the very early stages. I've just worked out the main mechanics and will add more that I have planned.
The Game Style
This is a top-down, open-world shooter set in the city of Los Verdes, or L.V. City. The style and ambiance are 100% noir, with public domain music enhancing the atmosphere. The game features a black-and-white tone with a vignette and grain effect to simulate old-school TVs.
The world right now has a day and night cycle with current time.
My aim is to make the city alive by adding an economy system, where each npc will have a house, work, recreation areas and commerce areas like other npc's stores.
I will also add animal life like birds, stray cats and dogs you can interact with.
Traffic and crime are also part of the city life, you will be able to assist police officers during store burglaries, traffic stops, car chases etc.
Jack Donnovan
Our main character. A hard-boiled figure with a five o'clock shadow, he's a heavy smoker and a regular at the bar, often found with a bottle of whiskey.
Haunted by past cases where he lost his partner / wife in an explosion from a bad negotiation, his weary eyes reveal deep melancholy.
You can interact with many things in the game world, drive, shoot, smoke, and enter buildings.
The UI
On the left side of the screen, the main user interface for the game will be displayed.
You'll see:
If you open the inventory, you will see this menu, which will be our access to case clues, locations, P.O.I. On the right side are our usables, which are a revolver, our cigarettes, and the flashlight. I'm debating on whether or not to add battery life to it.
weapon drawn.
When we have our weapon drawn, the character will look at and aim at the mouse position, allowing us to move in a different direction than where he's facing.
I'll be posting updates and working on the game. You can also follow my YouTube channel to see video gameplay of the updates.
